Mother Nature is a powerful, but mysterious, being, as well the daughter of the Nightmare King, Pitch.[1]

Physical Appearance[]

Mother Nature is "a tall, cloaked woman" who "holds herself with a regal air", with a "long, yet lovely" face.[1] Her black hair is very long, and both her hair and clothing appear to be one with the clouds that surround her form.

She is described as being "a force nearly as ancient as Pitch".[2]

History[]

Little is known about Mother Nature prior to her appearance at the Battle of Punjam Hy Loo except for her being the daughter of Pitch. But she is known by some, such as Toothiana, as a mysterious being who is "always there",[3] suggesting that she often watches the comings and goings of others in the world. For example, while Katherine was still at Santoff Claussen, Mother Nature observed her from afar when she was trying to sleep.[2] Nightlight also felt her presence at times, and thought he could sometimes see her face in clouds, leaves and snow.[4] She watched the Battle of Punjam Hy Loo as a neutral observer, neither helping nor obstructing either side with her winds. However, once Pitch had been subdued by Katherine, Mother Nature appeared in a swirl of clouds, engulfed the two, then vanished into thin air without a trace.[1]

Personality[]

Despite Mother Nature's apparent neutrality, Bunnymund remarked that she is quite unpredictable and not always kind.[1] She has her own agenda, being neither good nor evil,[3] as indicated by the way her winds thwarted both Pitch's forces and saved North from a mortal wound[5] prior to abducting Pitch and Katherine for her own purposes.[1]

Powers and Abilities[]

As her name suggests, Mother Nature has control over the elements of nature. She can manipulate natural phenomena such as the winds and clouds, and cause hail and lightning.[1] Her presence also imbues leaves, clouds,[4] winds, rain, snow, thunder and lightning.[3]

She is also able to keep herself hidden while she watches people, but some, such as Toothiana and Nightlight, can feel her presence.[3]

Trivia[]

  • Some fans mistook Katherine for being Pitch's daughter before Mother Nature was revealed in Toothiana: Queen of the Tooth Fairy Armies.
  • There is an ongoing debate among the fans as to what Mother Nature's real name is. It was once believed that William Joyce revealed her name to be Seraphina in an interview, but this has never been confirmed by an actual source, and is thus highly improbable.
